Blogmas Day 18 ❅ Christmas Bad Bits

If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m totally obsessed with Christmas. I like to embrace all the cliches that come with it, advent calendars, festive hot chocolates and of course a festive jumper. But Christmas isn’t all merry, there are certain aspects that could turn you into a bah-humbug for life!

Firstly the traffic on the roads seems to double if not triple. My usual journey home which takes around 15 minutes turns into a 40 minutes trek. I swear the closer to Christmas it gets, the worse the roads are. Last minute shoppers panic buying.

Budgeting how much to spend is always a big stress. I tend to set a budget and stick to it. But when it comes to wrapping it all, it never really amounts to much. Also some people end up with more because their items are less pricey. One thing leads to another and I always end up guilt tripping myself into going over budget….

I just can’t deal with the Christmas anticlimax. You spend weeks building up, get all hyped for the big day. Then bang, it’s over. Literally you blink and it’s gone. So heart breaking, especially if you’re like me and like the Christmas countdown more than the day itself.

Dealing with the explosion of wrapping paper after the gift giving session. I’ve become more aware about how much waste packaging there is from supermarket products. So now I’m throwing all this paper which has barely been used, it’s rather soul destroying. 2019 is the year I’m being more mindful so I’m going to plan ahead for how I’ll reduce next years Christmas waste!

So despite all the happy bits there are a few bits that aren’t so great about Christmas. However for me all the excitement pushes these to the back of my mind and I’m not bothered!

What tickles your feather when it comes to Christmas?

  1. Omg I totally agree that actual Christmas day just goes in a blink! Its so funny how we have this whole month of counting down and then the day comes and that’s it, it’s over lol. But it is a lovely family day which you don’t get all the time so it is nice!

  2. Oh I agree on the post-Christmas blues! I hate how we build everything up for a month and then all of a sudden it’s over. Sometimes I wish it could be Christmas all year !
